Man killed in two-car collision

A man has died and another has been airlifted to hospital after the car they were in collided with another car.

One of the vehicles caught fire after the crash on the A442 in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, shortly before noon but the occupants were able to get out.

The passenger of the other vehicle died at the scene and the driver, who suffered chest and abdominal injuries, was flown to Selly Oak Hospital.

Anyone who saw the crash is asked to contact West Mercia Police.

Head-on collision

Police said a white Rover 45 was driving towards Kidderminster when it collided with a red Vauxhall Vectra travelling the other way near the turn for Wolverley.

The man who died was travelling in the Rover and was from the Wyre Forest area.

A post-mortem examination is due to be held on Monday.

The occupants of the Vauxhall, who were from Stourbridge, were treated for shock.

The road was closed in both directions before reopening at about 1500 BST.
