Funeral for man found in suitcase

James Hughes had a mental age of 18 months

The funeral of a disabled 22-year-old man whose body was found in a suitcase in the garden of the family home has taken place.

The body of James Hughes was found days after that of his mother Heather Wardle, aged 39.

The mother and son went missing from their home in Loxley Close, Redditch, Worcestershire, on 19 April.

The funeral, which was a humanist service, was held at Redditch Crematorium.

Mrs Wardle was found with a ligature around her neck in undergrowth a short way from her home, two days after she went missing.

Police still do not know how Mr Hughes died.

An inquest date has not yet been set.

The 22-year-old had a mental age of 18 months and needed 24-hour care.
