Crews tackle car workshop blaze

About 45 firefighters are tackling a fire at a Herefordshire car workshop.

Witnesses reported heavy smoke blowing over the town after the fire broke out earlier at Oldfields Garage in Green Lane, Leominster.

A spokeswoman for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire Service said crews were concerned about the possibility of gas cylinders being on the premises.

Neighbouring homes were evacuated and the area cordoned off. Nine fire engines were sent to the scene.

West Mercia Police said the fire was under control by 1300 BST, but emergency service crews were expected to remain at the scene for several hours to make it safe.
