Gardeners said they were planting extra seeds because of the thefts

A special allotment watch scheme has been set up in Worcester following a spate of fruit and vegetable thefts.
The so-called veg-ilantes said they believed the rise in the thefts was partially down to the economic downturn.
Allotment holders said the crime was becoming so common they were routinely planting extra seeds to accommodate for the thefts.
They urged any victims of the vegetable thieves to contact police.
'Very angry'
Allotment holder Jo Grice said: "It makes us very angry if you find your shed has been broken into or someone has nicked your beans.
"But it's becoming part of the course - you grow a few extra for the thieves.
"It's hard work though and we would be rather sharing the food with our families than with people who are too lazy to grow them themselves."
As part of the new scheme, allotment holders have vowed to keep an eye on neighbouring plots.
They will also hold regular meetings with local police officers, who will also provide security advice.
