Girl hit by car airlifted to care

An 11-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car in Worcester.

She was injured when she was struck on London Road, near to the Tesco Express store, at about 1430 BST, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

She suffered serious head injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Birmingham Children's Hospital for emergency treatment.

Anyone who witnessed the crash has been asked to contact West Mercia Police.
