A town which had its Olympic flag stolen hours after it was raised has been offered a replacement from the organisers of the 2012 London Games.

The flag, which showed the logo of the 2012 Games, was raised over Upton-upon-Severn, Worcestershire, on Sunday as the Beijing Games came to an end.

Town leaders realised it had been taken from the flagpole on Monday morning.

Peter Webb, one of the organisers, said they were hoping to arrange a "re-raising" of the flag.
