David Langdon had been a "popular man", police said

A fourth person has been arrested in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in the remains of a bonfire in his Herefordshire garden.

The body of David Paul Langdon, 40, was found in Wormelow on Thursday.

Three other people had already been arrested by West Mercia Police and remain in custody.

Officers described Mr Langdon, who worked as a landscape gardener, as a "popular man" who was well known in the village.

Police said he had not been seen since 4 August and urged anyone who had heard from him between that time and when his body was discovered to contact them.

'Well-liked character'

Officers have been carrying out forensic searches throughout Mr Langdon's cottage, and at another property in nearby Much Birch.

Both were sealed off as part of the investigation.

Other police teams have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Det Ch Insp Dave Llewellin said: "David was a popular man.

"He had lived in Wormelow for a long time. He was a landscape gardener and a woodsman - a regular in the village and a well-liked character."

Home Office pathologists have been brought in to conduct a post-mortem examination on Mr Langdon's body.
