David Langdon's death is being investigated

A 40-year-old man whose body was discovered in the remains of a bonfire in his garden has been named by police.

The body of David Paul Langdon was found in Wormelow, Herefordshire, on Thursday, West Mercia Police said.

Det Ch Insp Dave Llewellin said he had not been seen since 4 August and police hoped to "fill in the gaps" as to what had happened Mr Langdon since then.

On Saturday, magistrates granted police 36 more hours to question three people arrested in connection with his death.

Home Office pathologists have been brought in to conduct a post-mortem examination on Mr Langdon's body.

Properties searched

Mr Llewellin said: "By naming him now we hope that anyone who knew him - or just recognised him - will be able to help us fill in the gaps as to what has happened to him during the 10 days prior to his body being found."

Officers have been carrying out forensic searches at Mr Langdon's house, and at another house in nearby Much Birch.

Both properties have been sealed off as part of the investigation.

Other police teams have been carrying out house-to-house inquiries in the area.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Hereford Police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
