Bus companies and highways bosses are to carry out a safety audit after a boy was killed and a woman injured in separate accidents on the same road.

Ellis Smith, 10, was on his bike when he was killed in a crash with a single-decker bus in Church Hill Way, Redditch, Worcestershire, on 2 August.

And a woman in her 40s was seriously hurt when she was hit by a single-decker bus on 7 August.

Worcestershire County Council said it would take a good look at the road.

Highways manager Jon Fraser said a complete safety audit would be carried out, not just of the bus route in Church Hill Way, but of all bus routes in that area.

"From that we can make a proper assessment if further measures are required or if we need to look at other things.

"These are terrible tragedies that have happened recently at that location which is why I think we need to take a good look at it," he said.
