Flood-prone area to get defences

Residents in a Worcester street repeatedly hit by flooding have been told their houses will be protected by permanent defences.

The Environment Agency has been given the go ahead by councillors to enlarge the earth banks that run along Hylton Road near the Sabrina Bridge.

Work has already started on the project.

The area on the banks of the River Severn was badly hit by flooding in July 2007 and autumn and winter 2000.
