Man killed in tractor crash named

A 67-year-old man who died when his car collided with a tractor in Herefordshire has been named by police.

William Edward Lewis, of Coleford, Gloucestershire, was driving a VW Golf which was involved in the crash on the A49 at Peterstow on Saturday morning.

West Mercia Police said the crash happened after the tractor was in collision with a double-decker bus.

A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released on bail.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest is expected to be opened and adjourned on Tuesday, a police spokesman said.

A 65-year-old woman, who was a passenger on the bus, was taken to hospital with a neck injury. The bus driver and other passengers were uninjured.

All emergency services, including the County Air Ambulance, attended the incident, which closed the road for several hours, which police investigators examined the scene.

Any witnesses who have not yet come forward are urged to contact police.
