A couple from Hereford are believed to be missing following a massive earthquake which has claimed more than 12,000 lives in China.

The city's MP Paul Keetch told the House of Commons he had been contacted by a constituent worried about the fate of his parents.

The 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck in Sichuan Province, in the south-west of the country, on Monday.

Up to 100,000 people are believed to be missing near the quake's epicentre.

Foreign Secretary David Milliband told Mr Keetch: "Our ambassador is on his way to the main scene of the disaster.
