An inquest into the death of a woman who died while river-boarding in New Zealand has been opened and adjourned.

Emily Jordan, 21, from near Bewdley, Worcestershire, is thought to have drowned in a river near Queenstown, on the South Island, last month.

Coroner Robin Balmain adjourned the West Bromwich inquest saying he would wait until a full inquiry into her death was conducted.

He added he hoped the full inquest could be held in New Zealand.

Miss Jordan's funeral is expected to take place by the end of next week.
