Event promotes eastern Europeans
A special event to break down negative stereotypes of people from eastern Europe was being held in Shropshire.

The Balkan evening at Mereside Hall, Shrewsbury, on Sunday was celebrating the rich culture of countries such as Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia.

Dancing and eating traditional food from those areas had been planned.

Organiser Anroaneta Watkins-Kazan, a lecturer from Bulgaria, said: "Why is it there is almost no information about the positive aspects of Bulgaria?"

She added: "Sometimes when you have some information it is usually about some groups in Bulgaria which would be minority groups."
