A Herefordshire crisp company is diversifying its interests and building a potato vodka distillery.
Tyrrells Potato Chips has been given planning permission for the site at farmland in Preston Wynne.
Some residents objected to the scheme fearing the land, currently used as a research centre, would be transformed into a major industrial site.
The company plans to make vodka from potatoes grown on its farms but which are too small to turn into crisps.
Herefordshire Council said the distillery would have a capacity to make 3,600 bottles per week.
Tyrrells also plans to deliver waste sunflower oil from its crisp manufacturing to the site once a week for conversion into bio-diesel.
The fuel will then be used to run a generator for the distillery and to run farm vehicles.
