Pupils saved from crossing line
Children cross railway line, under parental supervision
Parents said they feared a serious accident or a death
Parents concerned that their children's lives would be at risk crossing a busy railway line to get to school have been told a bridge will reopen.

The closure of the bridge in Colwall in Herefordshire has cut off much of the village from its school.

Herefordshire Council had said it would put on buses for the children and arrange for wardens to supervise children crossing the line.

But a spokesman confirmed that the bridge would reopen to people on foot.

Parent Claire Pearson told the BBC earlier this week that she feared someone would be killed.

"It attracts the children to it. We've always been telling them they must not go near the railway line so now we say 'come across it twice a day'," she said.
