Wychavon wins council of the year
Wychavon District Council has been crowned council of the year.

The authority shared the top award with High Peak Council in Derbyshire at a gala evening on Monday.

Wychavon got the award for building its own hospital to retain local services and achieving high scores in housing inspections.

Leaders of the authority said the Local Government Chronicle award was due to the hard work of all the council's staff.

Council leader Martin Jennings said: "To receive this recognition is a fantastic achievement, and a credit to all the hard working staff at Wychavon."
