Appeal after train driver injured
Joseph Paxton
Joseph Paxton will have to return to hospital for further treatment
Police have made an appeal to find witnesses after a train driver was seriously injured by rubble.

Joseph Paxton, 56, was hurt when 45lbs (22kg) of bricks and mortar were thrown through his windscreen from a bridge in Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

He was knocked unconscious and it is believed an automatic braking system eventually brought his train to a halt.

Police want to speak to anyone near the footbridge by the Harriers Football Club on the evening of 17 December.

Ch Insp Allan Gregory, from the British Transport Police, said: "We are eager to speak to anyone who has information, and are urging people within the local community to come forward as they may hold vital information, and know who is responsible for this sickening crime."

The three male suspects aged 16, 18 and 21, were held on suspicion of intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

They have been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

Mr Paxton was treated in hospital for "extensive" facial injuries.

He was since been discharged, but continues to receive treatment as an outpatient.
