New technology for bell-ringers
Church bells (generic)
A computer has replaced traditional bell-ringing
Worcester Cathedral has bought in virtual technology which will keep its neighbours happy as it trains new bell-ringers in the art of campanology.

They have bought a simulator to teach the skills - which uses headphones rather than the bells themselves.

Worcester's Master of the Bell-ringers Mark Reagan said it stopped the constant clanging outside the cathedral at all hours, while people practised.

"It's an amazing system," he said. "We can all learn and improve from it."

He added: "It is a mathematically accurate computer system, ensuring a perfect technique."
