Protest at hospital service cuts
Alexandra Hospital
Maternity services at Alexandra Hospital could be moved
A protest is planned outside council offices to try to save services at Redditch's Alexandra Hospital.

Campaigners will lobby new members of Redditch Borough Council before its annual general meeting on Monday.

They want to keep maternity, paediatric and gynaecological services in the town, which could be moved to Worcester under plans to save money.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust, which runs the hospital, is reviewing whether to close the wards.

In another cost-cutting move, it said last month 720 jobs would go at the Alexandra, Worcestershire Royal and Kidderminster Hospital sites to help save £30m.

It is one of a number of hospital trusts across England to announce job cuts because of mounting debt problems.
