Tarantula stolen in pet shop raid

A pet shop owner is appealing for the safe return of her animals, including a venomous tarantula, which were stolen from her shop.

Thieves took exotic animals valued at £4,000, including five tortoises, a Mantella frog and a Texas rat snake, from Aqua Fanatics in Redditch.

They also took a black Tiger Tarantula which has a mildly poisonous bite.

A police spokesman said the shop owner was shocked and upset and without the right care the animals could die.

Two male bearded dragons, nine tortoise eggs and a box of dragon eggs were also taken.
