Link road lorry plan criticised
Plans for a new link road to stop heavy goods vehicles from driving through residential areas of south Birmingham have been criticised by councillors.

The route would run across greenbelt land from Longbridge in the city to Hopwood, Worcestershire, where the A441 goes directly to Junction 2 of the M42.

Most HGVs travelling to the motorway currently go through Longbridge.

Bromsgrove District Council is worried that the proposed road could encourage more development on greenbelt land.

The scheme is one of three options being considered by Birmingham City Council to improve access to the Longbridge industrial complex from the motorway.

A feasibility study into the project has been commissioned by the council.
