Staff thwart post office raiders

Two workers fought off a pair of intruders during a raid on a Worcestershire post office.

Police said the men, who work at Fairfield post office near Bromsgrove, went to investigate after hearing noises in the early hours of Tuesday.

A bottle was thrown in the struggle, hitting one of the staff on his hand.

The offenders then ran out of the building, and escaped in a stolen red Subaru saloon car. Police are appealing for witnesses.

The car had been taken from Stourbridge a few days before, and police hope it will help them track down the offenders.

One of the men is described as white, about 6 ft 2 in and was wearing a black hooded top and black trainers.

The other man, about 5 ft 10 in, was wearing a dark top and a dark cap with flaps at the sides.
