Firefighters called to rescue a dog trapped in a badger sett in Shropshire overnight were banned from digging it out under wildlife regulations.
Firefighters cannot dig into setts without special authority, as badgers are a protected species.
Eventually the dog managed to free itself from the hole, emerging covered in soil.
Rescuers were called to Sweeny Mountain near Oswestry on Saturday morning, after the dog had been stuck overnight.
