The film examines man's relationship with cows
A herd of cows are to make their film debut after impressing a director at an agricultural show.

The Hereford breed cattle were spotted by Harry Marshall at the Three Counties Show in Malvern last week.

He is making a film about the history of the animal and man's relationship with it.

Mr Marshall chose farmer Edward Lewis' herd to appear in Holy Cow as his Hereford cattle were reared in Kings Pyon, only five miles from where the famous breed originated.

American release

Camera crews have also been filming in the Forest of Dean, where actors posed as cavemen and women and drew pictures of cows on the walls of Clearwell Caves.

The film is being made for a US audience by Bristol-based company Icon.

It is hoped the movie will eventually be screened in the UK as well.

Hereford cattle are the world's most successful beef breed.
