Vomiting bug shuts hospital wards
Southampton General Hospital
Strict control measures have been put in place at the hospital
Three wards at a hospital remain closed to new admissions due to an outbreak of a highly-infectious vomiting bug.

Some of the wards at Southampton General Hospital, which were closed on Monday, have reopened but the virus appears to have spread to others.

Strict control measures have been put in place and all relatives and staff have to wash their hands before and after visits.

The Norwalk Virus is highly infectious and causes vomiting and diarrhoea.

A hospital spokeswoman said: "The situation has improved over the last 24 hours but three wards remain closed to new admissions.

"We are asking people to use common sense when visiting relatives in affected wards."
