Police say they did not fire a shot during the siege
Police have confirmed that the man who died after a four-day armed siege died of a single gunshot wound.

The man, who barricaded himself into a house in Poole, Dorset, with a shotgun, has been named as 44-year-old Paul Green, from Yeovil, in Somerset.

Dorset Police, who finally entered the house in Haskells Road on Wednesday, say they did not fire any shots.

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Green was shot in the chest. A Police Complaints Commission inquiry goes on.

House surrounded

The gunman burst into the house at 0530 BST on Sunday over what is thought to have been a domestic dispute.

He ordered a man and four young children out of the house.

Two hours later their badly beaten 26-year-old mother also left the house and was taken to hospital.

Armed police and trained negotiators surrounded the house but were unable to resolve the stand-off.
