A team of British Army medics have been welcomed back to their Hampshire base after their deployment in Afghanistan.

The 22-strong team from 33 Field Hospital Royal Army Medical Corps were greeted by family and friends on their return to the base in Gosport.

During their six-months in Helmand, the team treated British and coalition forces, Afghan troops and civilians on the front line and at Camp Bastion.

Later this month, 33 Field Hospital will be given the freedom of Gosport.

Cpl Jenny Walker: "The main challenges that we faced whilst we were there included the environment and getting the medical equipment out and making sure that the guys on the ground never went without.

"We worked long days, sometimes 18 hours a day, but we did the job."
