Pensioner rescued by firefighters

A 91-year-old woman had to be rescued by firefighters after a blaze broke out in her Hampshire home.

Crews were called to a flat in Middlebridge Street, Romsey, at 0041 GMT.

Firefighters from Romsey and Redbridge used thermal imaging equipment and breathing apparatus to locate the woman.

The woman was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
