Four held in animal rights probe

Four people have been arrested during raids as part of an inquiry into suspected animal rights extremism.

Police were investigating criminal damage in Farnborough, Fareham, Hedge End and Winchester, Hampshire, in 2008.

Officers raided an address in Clarence Road, Gosport, Hampshire, and arrested a 26-year-old man and a woman, 28.

A man, 19, and woman, 20, were held in Boat Lane, Evesham, Worcestershire. All four were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal damage.

The search at the Gosport address is expected to continue for some time, Hampshire Constabulary said.
