M-way bridge fall causes delays

Motorists experienced traffic chaos after a 64-year-old woman fell from a bridge on to a Hampshire motorway.

Hampshire police received reports that the woman had fallen between junctions 4 and 5 of the M27 westbound, at Chilworth, at about 1600 GMT.

She was not hit by any vehicles and the extent of her injuries were not yet known, a spokeswoman said.

The woman was taken to hospital and two lanes of the carriageway were closed after the incident.
