Man killed in wall crash is named

Karl Butler died in the crash in the early hours of Friday

A 22-year-old man who died when the car he was in crashed into the wall of a nightclub in Portsmouth has been named as Karl Butler from Folkestone in Kent.

He was a passenger in the Peugeot 206 which hit the side of The Lounge club in Granada Road, Southsea, on Friday.

Mr Butler suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 19-year-old woman from Cwmbran, south east Wales, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

She has been released on bail until 12 January next year.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the crash to contact them.
