Man dies in hospital after fight

Police want to speak with anyone who was in Eastney Road or Methuen Road

A man has died after he was injured in a fight in Portsmouth.

The 58-year-old was found by officers called to Eastney Road shortly after midnight on Saturday.

He was taken to the city's Queen Alexandra Hospital but died later. A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Police said: "Detectives are investigating the circumstances which led to the man's death."

The force wants to hear from "anyone who was in the area of Eastney Road near to the junction with Methuen Road who may have seen or heard anything suspicious last night".

The spokeswoman said a post-mortem examination would take place later.
