An elderly pedestrian was seriously hurt when a car careered into a shopping arcade in Hampshire.

The driver was trying to park when she accidentally hit the accelerator pedal and drove into the Florist Shop in Chandler's Ford earlier, said police.

A customer outside the shop was hit and taken to hospital with a suspected broken pelvis and leg. The car's driver and passenger needed minor treatment.

The premises have been secured and the car has now been removed, police said.

Sharon Amos, who works at the florist, said: "We just heard this awful noise.

"We looked ahead and this car was flying into us and went straight into the shop.

"It was just really scary."
