A male youth has died after he came off a scooter on a Hampshire road, police have said.

The rider was pronounced dead at the scene after the incident in Marchwood Road near the entrance to Brickfield Park caravan site, Southampton.

Officers closed the road soon after the incident at 1615 BST at Normandy Way and Bury Road.

A spokeswoman said the closures are expected to remain in place for several hours.
