Arrest follows discovery of body

Mr McCarthy's body was found by police on Friday afternoon

A man has been arrested by detectives investigating the suspected murder of a 34-year-old Hampshire man.

Detectives were called to a property at Daisy Mead in Waterlooville on Friday afternoon where they found the body of John McCarthy.

Following post-mortem tests police confirmed the death was suspicious and an investigation was launched.

A 40-year-old man from Waterlooville has been arrested and is helping police with their inquiries.

The scene had been cordoned off throughout the day while a forensic examination took place.

Police have asked for anyone who saw Mr McCarthy on either Thursday or Friday to contact them.
