Boy injured in free-running stunt

A schoolboy suffered serious injuries when he fell 25ft (7.6m) in a stunt known as free-running.

The 14-year-old fell from a roof in Palmerston Road, Southsea, about 2010 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital where police described his condition as stable.

Hampshire Constabulary has launched a safety warning to young people about the dangers of the stunt in which people jump from buildings.

Det Con Joanna Morris said: "The boy was very lucky to survive the fall. He is still in hospital undergoing tests to ascertain the full extent of his injuries.

"This accident shows the dangerous nature of that activity and should act as a strong deterrent to others not to try anything similar.

"It may look exciting to watch on TV and in films, but it is so easy for something to go wrong with very serious consequences."
