Men charged over robbery attempt

Two men have been charged after an attempted armed robbery at a Southampton mobile phone shop.

Police said two masked men entered the Mobile Exchange shop in Portswood on Wednesday morning with what was thought to be a sawn-off shotgun.

A 42-year-old from Southampton and a 29-year-old from Wiltshire were later arrested.

They have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of an imitation firearm.

They are due to appear before magistrates later.
