Man charged over pedestrian death

A man has been charged over the death of a 52-year-old man who was knocked down when a car mounted a pavement.

Trevor Bird, 52, was hit by a BMW in Bishopswood Road, Tadley, on the border of Hampshire and Berkshire, in the early hours of 15 November 2008.

Mr Bird, of Brookside Walk, Tadley, died later in hospital. His 24-year-old son was also seriously hurt.

Jason Doyle, 33, of Burnham Road, Tadley, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He was released on bail to appear at North West Hampshire Magistrates court, Basingstoke, on 14 May.
