Injured sailor flown from yacht

Coastguard and ambulance crews transporting injured man
The injured man was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital

A 55-year-old man had to be airlifted to hospital after sustaining a serious head injury while on board a yacht off the Isle of Wight.

Solent Coastguard received a May Day call at about 1445 GMT from the vessel off Ventor.

It is unclear how the man sustained the injury but he was flown to Southampton General Hospital.

A total of eight people were on board but no-one else was hurt in the incident.
