An area of Southampton was cordoned off during the evening rush hour after a man was found dead with gunshot wounds to his head.

The 65-year-old man was found injured in Rockstone Place at about 1645 GMT but later died, police said.

Officers cordoned off both ends of Rockstone Place, as well as an area of parkland off The Avenue, causing some disruption to motorists.

The shooting was not thought to be suspicious, a police spokesman said.
