Torture murder anniversary plea

The daughter of a 77-year-old woman battered to death with her own rolling pin has pleaded for people to come forward almost a year after her murder.

Georgina Edmonds was found dead at her home in Brambridge, near Winchester, Hampshire, on 11 January, 2008.

She had been tortured with a knife before being beaten over the head with her marble rolling pin.

Mrs Edmonds' daughter Doddie Edmonds said the past year had been "hard" but was 100% confident in the police.

Speaking to BBC South from her mother's cottage she said: "Coming back into her cottage it is a bit like a time-warp and makes me feel about the terror she must have faced on that day.

"There's just a horrible blurry thought of how she met her death and the fact that she lay on the floor for several hours before she was found.

"She was so happy in this cottage which makes it even more sad that something like this could happen here.

"I feel sure someone must have that vital piece of information to lead them to the killer."

The case was featured on BBC's Crimewatch show last November and officers received up to 50 phone calls but no-one has been arrested since the appeal and no-one has ever been charged.

A reward of £30,000 has been put up for information leading to the killer.

Detectives are still keen to trace a man seen on CCTV wearing a fluorescent jacket trying to get money out at a Tesco Express in Twyford Road with Mrs Edmonds' cash card on the day she died.

Officers are also trying to locate a number of items taken from Mrs Edmonds' home, including a handbag, a silver credit card holder, her cash card, cheque book and her brightly coloured key fob.

Det Ch Insp Paul Barton, of Hampshire police, said: "It is nearly one year since this horrific attack on Georgina Edmonds and we are again, appealing to the community to continue to come forward with information.

"Every tiny detail must be gathered so that we can catch the person or people who carried out this horrific attack."

Four people have so far been arrested and eliminated in the inquiry.
