Pedestrian killed in crash named

A pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on a main road in Hampshire has been named.

Mark Root from Garstons Close, Fareham, was crossing the A27 at Titchfield on Saturday when a Honda Civic struck him.

The 35-year-old suffered leg and arm injuries and was taken to Cosham's Queen Alexandra Hospital where he died.

The driver, a 28-year-old Fareham man, was uninjured. Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened near the Shell petrol station.
