Man hit by car dies in hospital

A pedestrian who was hit by a car as he crossed a main road in Hampshire has died in hospital.

The unidentified man was crossing the A27 near the Shell petrol station at Titchfield when the car struck him on Saturday night.

He was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham but died from multiple injuries a few hours later.

The eastbound carriageway was closed for four hours so the scene could be examined and the vehicle recovered.
