The scene of the collision in Tadley
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them

A man has been killed and another injured when they were hit by a car that mounted a pavement and crashed into a garden.

The men were hit by a BMW in Bishopswood Road, Tadley, on the border of Hampshire and Berkshire, at about 0100 GMT on Saturday.

The driver and passenger of the car fled the scene, police said.

The injured man is in a critical condition with severe head injuries in Southampton General Hospital.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: "The driver and passenger of the BMW were seen to decamp from the vehicle and run off in the direction of the Catholic church in Hangar Road.

"We are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward."

Bishopswood Road was closed for several hours.

Police said next-of-kin were being informed.
