Family plea after car stab death

Paula Poolton
Ms Poolton had been missing since 17 October

The family of a woman found stabbed to death in her car have urged anyone with information about her disappearance to come forward.

Paula Jayne Poolton, of Titchfield, Fareham, was found dead in her Peugeot 206 in Park Gate, near to Swanwick railway station on 28 October.

The 40-year-old had been missing for 11 days.

Two men, aged 52 and 55 and from the Fareham area, arrested on suspicion of her murder, have been released on bail.

'Violent death'

In a statement, Ms Poolton's parents said: "The murder of our daughter has left a massive void in our lives which will never be filled.

"We are devastated at the loss of our lovely daughter and the violent manner of her death.

"We would like to thank everyone for their messages of sympathy and condolence which have been a great comfort to us at this terrible time.

"We would like to ask everyone to search their memory and try and remember their movements in the period Paula Jayne was missing in order to assist the police to trace the movements of Paula Jayne and her car."

On Friday, two weeks after Ms Poolton vanished, police were at Swanwick railway station handing out leaflets to rail passengers to try to jog people's memories.

Her car was found in Duncan Road, which is used regularly for access and parking for the station, police said.

The last confirmed sighting of the Peugeot 206, prior to it being found in Duncan Road, was at Tesco in Bursledon between 2130 BST and 2140 BST on 17 October.
