Man's body found at city school

The body of a man has been found at a city secondary school in Hampshire.

Police have named the dead man as part-time community worker Danny Devereaux. His body was found at the Oasis Academy Lord's Hill in Green Lane, Southampton.

A spokesman for Hampshire police said they were called at 0730 BST and investigations were continuing.

He added that the force was not treating the death as suspicious. In August, the school was renamed as the Oasis Academy Lord's Hill.

It had previously been known as the Millbrook Community School.

The school is sponsored by Oasis Community Learning, a Christian education trust, which splits the academy over two city sites at Millbrook and Lordshill.

'Terribly sad loss'

Ian Golding, the principal at the Oasis Academy Lord's Hill, said in a statement: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Danny Devereaux who was tragically found dead on the premises of Oasis Academy Lord's Hill earlier today.

"This is a terribly sad loss. Danny had many friends in both the academy and the wider community and we are all mourning the passing of a young and popular member of staff.

"We are working closely with the police who are not treating his death as suspicious at this stage."

Mr Devereaux was thought to be aged in his 20s.

Pupils at the school are on the half-term break this week.
