Virus-hit hospital wards opened

Three wards at two hospitals have been fully reopened following a recent outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea.

The wards, Bartlett and St Cross, at Royal Hampshire County Hospital were shut on 10 October after 30 people were affected by the Norovirus.

A spokeswoman from the Winchester hospital said Bartlett opened on Monday and St Cross last week.

Meanwhile, a Southampton General Hospital ward was recently closed for a day after five people caught the bug.

A spokeswoman for Royal Hampshire County Hospital said: "We are delighted to report that the Norovirus outbreak has been brought under control.

"We remain on a heightened state of vigilance and are still taking any symptoms shown by staff or patients extremely seriously.

"Visitors are reminded that they should only come in if they are free from infections, and have no symptoms themselves. "
