Arrest after fatal scooter crash

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after a collision in which an elderly woman on a mobility scooter was killed.

She was crossing Gershwin Road in Basingstoke on her scooter when the crash happened on Monday afternoon.

The elderly woman, from the Basingstoke area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The arrested woman, 22, who was driving a Ford Focus, was shaken but unhurt. Her young children, who were passengers, were also uninjured.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
