A 12-year-old schoolboy cyclist died when he was in a collision with a car outside a pub in a Hampshire village.

The crash happened by the Crown Inn in Ringwood Road, Bransgore, close to the Dorset border, at 1630 BST on Tuesday.

The victim was later named as Aarron Keeping, 12, of Burnt House Lane, Bransgore.

The 25-year-old male driver of a blue Ford Focus, who was shaken but unhurt, was arrested and released on bail. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Aaron was taken to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Ringwood Road was closed between Burnt House Lane and Burley Road while officers investigated the scene.
